World Series 2018: Update

Game 1: Success!

I’m so excited to be back in the World Series. This time is a little different, since I’m stuck on crutches and doing more behind the scenes work, but it’s still so much fun. The atmosphere is great, the crowd is electric, and this team is amazing.

Let’s do more damage in Game 2 tonight and bring the trophy home from California.

THIS IS BOSTON, NOT LA.

1-0

The Red Sox took game 1. It wasn’t pretty and it definitely wasn’t boring. Have I mentioned that I love J.D. Martinez?

Here’s hoping that Price isn’t rattled by New York’s bats and can get the job done. And our bats need to wake up a little more too. If our bullpen is going to be giving up a run an inning, we need to stock up on runs early on.

Let’s go Red Sox!

It’s here. A Red Sox and Yankees play off series. I don’t even have real words (mostly because I’m updating from a T station on my phone at 7 am), but I’m excited nonetheless.

Thom and I haven’t been in this situation in the almost 5 years we’ve been together. It’s a civil war that we have no control of.

Let’s do damage tonight, boys.

Run to Home Base 2017

In honor of Opening Day at Fenway Park, I’d like to do a little self promotion.

Last year, I participated in the Run to Home Base 9k at Fenway Park. Running is not my strong suit, even though I’ve been slowly working on it. This was almost double the miles of any runs I had done, and it was very difficult. It was a brutally hot day in July, which made the run that much worse. I ended up walking a lot more than I had planned (which was supposed to be 0%, since I had practiced running the whole thing leading up to race day).

However tough the race was, the cause of this fundraiser is very close to my heart. The proceeds of the fundraising go to the Red Sox Foundation’s Home Base Program, which supports veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injuries, as well as their families. Being a veteran, though not a combat veteran, I understand how important it is to care for our sisters and brothers in arms. I was very excited to raise over $1,000 for the cause. And seeing fellow veterans running with me and cheering me on along the side lines, gave me courage to finish strong and to cross home plate.

I have signed up to run again this summer. I plan to beat my time from last year and I’d love to raise more money this year. My preliminary fundraising goal is $500, but I’d be stoked if I could raise over $1,000 again this year.

I would be extremely grateful for any donations, no matter how small. Every cent matters! Please check out my fundraising page for information on how to donate!

Thank you!
Let’s go, Red Sox!

Opening Day Eve 2017

Well, technically, today was Opening Day for the 2017 Major League Baseball season. This house already watched the first game of the season, New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Rays. Half of us were pleased with the outcome of the game, while the other half was a bit upset. Sorry, Thom!

Tomorrow starts the beginning of a new season for the Boston Red Sox. Tomorrow starts my fifth year as a member of the Fenway Park staff. I remember my very first Opening Day Eve, in 2013.

#Flashback to April 7, 2013. Night before Opening Day. #NerdAlert

I’ve neglected this blog the past few seasons and I know I’ve promised to be better about it several times. I will try very hard to bring life back back to this blog.

I’m going into this season, as a fan, the same way I went into 2013. I’m excited for the new start, but also, not holding my breath. I remember saying in 2013, “This isn’t a World Series team, but I’m betting we’ll win 90 games and it’ll be a fun team to watch.” Well, we know how 2013 played out. My hope is that if I go in with that mindset again, maybe it’ll work out in my favor again.

Things I’m looking forward to this season:

  • Chris Sale!
  • Hanley homeruns
  • #WinDanceRepeat
  • A year without David Ortiz (I’m curious to see what the team can do without relying on him).
  • David Ortiz #34 retirement

What are you looking forward to this season, Red Sox or otherwise?
Should I bring back the Yankees-Red Sox Series Bets this season?
