Well, technically, today was Opening Day for the 2017 Major League Baseball season. This house already watched the first game of the season, New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Rays. Half of us were pleased with the outcome of the game, while the other half was a bit upset. Sorry, Thom!
Tomorrow starts the beginning of a new season for the Boston Red Sox. Tomorrow starts my fifth year as a member of the Fenway Park staff. I remember my very first Opening Day Eve, in 2013.
#Flashback to April 7, 2013. Night before Opening Day. #NerdAlert
I’ve neglected this blog the past few seasons and I know I’ve promised to be better about it several times. I will try very hard to bring life back back to this blog.
I’m going into this season, as a fan, the same way I went into 2013. I’m excited for the new start, but also, not holding my breath. I remember saying in 2013, “This isn’t a World Series team, but I’m betting we’ll win 90 games and it’ll be a fun team to watch.” Well, we know how 2013 played out. My hope is that if I go in with that mindset again, maybe it’ll work out in my favor again.
Things I’m looking forward to this season:
- Chris Sale!
- Hanley homeruns
- #WinDanceRepeat
- A year without David Ortiz (I’m curious to see what the team can do without relying on him).
- David Ortiz #34 retirement
What are you looking forward to this season, Red Sox or otherwise?
Should I bring back the Yankees-Red Sox Series Bets this season?
