yankees

1-0

The Red Sox took game 1. It wasn’t pretty and it definitely wasn’t boring. Have I mentioned that I love J.D. Martinez?

Here’s hoping that Price isn’t rattled by New York’s bats and can get the job done. And our bats need to wake up a little more too. If our bullpen is going to be giving up a run an inning, we need to stock up on runs early on.

Let’s go Red Sox!

It’s here. A Red Sox and Yankees play off series. I don’t even have real words (mostly because I’m updating from a T station on my phone at 7 am), but I’m excited nonetheless.

Thom and I haven’t been in this situation in the almost 5 years we’ve been together. It’s a civil war that we have no control of.

Let’s do damage tonight, boys.

Opening Day Eve 2017

Well, technically, today was Opening Day for the 2017 Major League Baseball season. This house already watched the first game of the season, New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Rays. Half of us were pleased with the outcome of the game, while the other half was a bit upset. Sorry, Thom!

Tomorrow starts the beginning of a new season for the Boston Red Sox. Tomorrow starts my fifth year as a member of the Fenway Park staff. I remember my very first Opening Day Eve, in 2013.

#Flashback to April 7, 2013. Night before Opening Day. #NerdAlert

I’ve neglected this blog the past few seasons and I know I’ve promised to be better about it several times. I will try very hard to bring life back back to this blog.

I’m going into this season, as a fan, the same way I went into 2013. I’m excited for the new start, but also, not holding my breath. I remember saying in 2013, “This isn’t a World Series team, but I’m betting we’ll win 90 games and it’ll be a fun team to watch.” Well, we know how 2013 played out. My hope is that if I go in with that mindset again, maybe it’ll work out in my favor again.

Things I’m looking forward to this season:

  • Chris Sale!
  • Hanley homeruns
  • #WinDanceRepeat
  • A year without David Ortiz (I’m curious to see what the team can do without relying on him).
  • David Ortiz #34 retirement

What are you looking forward to this season, Red Sox or otherwise?
Should I bring back the Yankees-Red Sox Series Bets this season?

And we’re back!

Red Sox baseball is in full swing and I can’t be any more excited for it! Opening Day was fantastic, even if I didn’t get to watch or even listen to it. I’m looking forward to enjoying some games in the near future as well as Fenway Opening Day on Monday!

Thom and I are heading down to New York this weekend to see the Yankees host the Red Sox, which will be super exciting! Like last year, we’ll be placing bets for every BOS-NYY series. For the first round, the loser has to do karaoke with either “New York, New York” (for me) or “Sweet Caroline” (for Thom).

Let’s go Red Sox!

End of the season blues

Well, it’s the off season for the Red Sox and I’ve officially failed as a blogger this year. I apologize immensely, but…yea oh well. I’m excited to watch the post season this year, mostly because I love baseball and October Ball is awesome, but also because it should be an extremely interesting one.

Thank you, Captain.

Thank you, Captain.

Also, it was incredible, and a bit weird, to be able to see Jeter’s final at bat in person. It was also incredible, and a bit weird, to almost be run over by him in a golf cart.

I’m going to do some brainstorming on what to do with this blog next. I already bought the domain, but everything needs to switch over to it, which will take some time. Also, let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see from me in the future. I’m going to have a long off season with plenty of time to do it.

Bet #2

Sorry for the long delay on this post. As we all know, the Red Sox lost the second series to the Yankees, meaning that I lost the second bet. This time, I was tasked with making Yankee cookies.

They didn’t come out as nice as I would have liked them (I had a hard time with some blue chocolate piping, so I had to settle for light blue gel frosting), but I won’t lie- they’re pretty adorable.

The third series is coming up at the end of the month. What should the stakes be for that one?

The First Series

Well, the first Red Sox – Yankees series of the season has started and it isn’t definitely not going in my favor. At least it’s only been one game, so there is time to turn this around.

For the first wager, we’ve decided on making the loser wear the opposite hat and jersey for their default facebook photo for a week. In the event of a tie, we’ll both lose.

Cross your fingers for a Sox victory!
