CONTESTANT #52. FEMALE FAN.

NAME: JESSICA CHAHANOVICH

TEAM: BOSTON RED SOX

THE STORY OF HER FANHOOD: “I’ve always been a fan of the Red Sox. Despite my father being from Philadelphia and being a Phillies fan (although they’re my NL team), I’ve always stayed true to my beloved Sox. My mother took me to games before I can even remember and then as I got older, I continued to go with family members and friends. Now I have the pleasure of living in Boston and being able to go to several games (I went to three in one week last season, but was lucky enough to see Tim Wakefield’s 200th win and my favorite pitcher, Josh Beckett, that week) throughout the season. I now run a Red Sox blog (caughtinarundown.tumblr.com) and no one questions my team loyalties when they see the tattoo on my ankle. Also, I was lucky enough to go to college in Portland, so I was able to meet several minor leaguers (Jacoby Ellsbury and I are still facebook friends after meeting at a bar…no joke! And Jonathan Papelbon has been to my house and called me once to wake me up!).”

WHY SHE’S THE ULTIMATE FAN: ”I missed the entire 2004 season while I was in Army Basic Combat Training. I did manage to talk to a drill sergeant while there who was from Boston who said, and I quote “the Red Sox will win it this year”. Obviously, I knew he was joking/wishful thinking. My last week of Advanced Individual Training was the week of the ALCS. I watched the first two games while on the phone and chatting with friends and family back home. I flew back to Maine the day of Game 3 and my dad wouldn’t tell me the score of the game. My first night at home was Game 4 and the Red Sox won! In fact, they won the rest of the games in the ALCS and continued to sweep the Cardinals in the World Series, breaking the curse! I like to think it was because I was finally home in New England. Furthermore, I always stick by my team, through thick and thin. I never think negatively of them and I always keep the faith. I intimidate guys I meet with my baseball knowledge. More than anything, I am a baseball fan who happens to love the Red Sox. I can go to any ball park (and I will hit them all one day) and be comfortable watching any game. And after this past Red Sox season, still being a fan makes me the ultimate (female) baseball fan.”

GET READY TO VOTE FOR MEEEEEEE

Today was just way too awesome.

Cody Ross told off an old lady to take a picture with me.

Daniel Nava complimented me on my lego phone and was super excited that I wanted a picture with him.

;ASIOGNAPWOEIGNAWEGW I need to work with the Red Sox. Now.
