Daniel Nava and his wife had their first child the other day. A little girl. I should probably throw out some congratulations for them on here.
*sigh* Congratulations to the Nava family. Even if it breaks my little fangirl heart.

2010: At Fenway Park, at his first at-bat in the major leagues, Daniel Nava hits a grand slam on the first pitch, helping the Red Sox crush the Philadelphia Phillies 10-2. He becomes the second player to ever do so, following Kevin Kouzmanoff, who did the same in 2004.
I’m assuming that if you’re reading this, then you know me. You know my love of Daniel Nava. I’m not shy about it. I 100% adore everything about him. I have the fangirl side of me who thinks he’s hot as hell. I also have the baseball brain that knows he’s a hell of a ballplayer, too. And there’s always his life story, which is like a boy’s version of a fairy tale.
I’ve loved him since the minute I heard his name, which is not uncommon for me. If a player has a cool name, I’ll instantly have this weird thing for them. So far, it’s paid off (Nava, Reddick, Saltalamacchia, etc…).
Hotter than lava, Daniel Nava. Nava say Nava. Nava give up. Nava surrender. Navalicious. It just rolls off the tongue nicely.
So if you haven’t yet, go write in Daniel Nava for the All-Star Game. I’m weird when it comes to the All Star Game, but we need to band together and get this guy there. He deserves it this year.
I only was able to watch half of the Red Sox-Yankee game tonight. Of the little I saw, I DID get to witness Daniel Nava’s uncharacteristic argument with the home plate umpire after his strike out.
Whether right or wrong, strike out or not, I kinda like seeing Nava all riled up. He’s always so calm, cool, and collected. Seeing him get angry like that is kind of fun, or maybe that’s just me.
Thought you might like to see some photos of the past few games at Fenway. It’s been a crazy week, what with a surprise visit from Neil Diamond and seeing a bunch of former Sox players in A’s jerseys. I loved every second of it (even if it’s freezing at night this time of year!).
I tried to stalk Josh Reddick as best as I could without actually stalking him- I really miss him being in Boston. Maybe someday my dream outfield of Nava-Ellsbury-Reddick will come true, though it’s doubtful. It was good to see Reddick again though.
I’ve been talking about him for forever. I just absolutely adore Daniel Nava. First, it was his name. Nava- that just sounds cool, especially with a Southie accent. Then he goes and hits a grand slam on the FIRST pitch that he’s ever seen in major league baseball. And then I read his backstory on how he got to the Red Sox, who bought the rights to him for ONE DOLLAR. Dude, what?
People have been teasing me because I’m “obsessed” with this guy, but how can you not be? It’s guys like Daniel Nava that make me feel romantic about baseball. This is a guy who was cut from teams and worked as the equipment manager. He worked his way back up to playing. He was pushed down so many times and kept fighting his way back up.
Last year really worked in his favor. While the Red Sox had such a horrible season with injuries (and….other issues, we’ll just say), he was able to see a lot of playing time. He’s a switch hitter, which is pretty awesome. He wasn’t, and still isn’t, a flashy superstar, but he was solid. He’s a good outfielder and a solid hitter. Besides, I’m over flashy superstars. I’d rather have a team of dirt dogs than a team of crappy players and one superstar.
Now look at him. He’s part of the 25-man roster. He’s been hitting bombs at Fenway. Totally owning the plate, even if Hanrahan ruined it for last night. The man is great in the outfield and now we see he’s good for designated hitting. During spring training, he was trained to play first base, so now he’s even more versatile.
I’m so excited for him for this season. Daniel Nava, continue to be hotter than that damn lava.
Oh, and not to mention, he’s totally adorable. He’s a complete sweetheart and liked my lego phone case.
Today was just way too awesome.
Cody Ross told off an old lady to take a picture with me.
Daniel Nava complimented me on my lego phone and was super excited that I wanted a picture with him.
;ASIOGNAPWOEIGNAWEGW I need to work with the Red Sox. Now.
Okay guys, I know I haven’t really posted in like forever. Part of that is because, well, this season sucks. Also, because I’m been way busy and computerless. Also, because I’ve been going to too many games and just haven’t bothered to write. Also, because I’m still heartbroken about Joshua.
But HOLY COW I have pic spam for you! I went to today’s game and met Salty, Ross, Sweeney, Carpenter, Breslow, and NAVA! I’m dyyyyyying. I also got to hang out in the WEEI booth for a bit, thanks to my friends Pat and Katie. 🙂
YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY
Nava, Ellsbury, and Sweeney in the outfield tonight? Oh good Lord someone get a photo of that for me.
I cant handle this game tonight.
These things all deserve their own longer posts, but to be honest, I’m just way too exhausted (really long Muay Thai class tonight) to type them all out separately. By the time I have the energy, they’ll be way overdue (they already are anyway), so here goes:
1. Kevin Youkilis- thanks for everything. Your last few years in Boston were a little shaky with me, but we have a lot of memories beyond them. Let’s remember the good times, shall we? Good luck in Chicago, and anywhere else you may go.
2. SERIOUSLY BASEBALL WRITERS AND ANNONCERS?! Let’s just all post at the same time “BRONSON ARROYO HAS A NO HITTER GOING!” Whatever happened to superstition and tradition? WE DON’T TALK ABOUT IT. Gahhh!! My autographs would have been worth so much more with a no hitter. Also, Bronson is one of my all time faves…THANKS A LOT!
3. Daniel Nava….hotter than lava. Swoooooon.
