1940: In the 7th inning, the Red Sox scored 14 runs, while the A’s scored 2, making an American League record of 16 total runs in an inning. Another modern Major League record was set by Ted Williams, who batted three times in an inning.
1950: At Philadelphia’s Shibe Park, the Red Sox beat the A’s, 22-14. The game lasted two-hour and fifty minutes. It also established a new American League record with a combined total of 36 runs scored in one game.
